Scarlet Lady
Scarlet Lady is Virgin Voyages' first ship, launching the adults-only boutique cruise concept with all-inclusive pricing and Caribbean itineraries
Scarlet Lady carries 2,700 adults (18+) on Caribbean sailings from Miami, designed as Virgin''s entry into the cruise market. She introduced the adults-only, all-suite, all-inclusive concept in 2020 — a positioning that differentiated Virgin from every incumbent cruise line.
Virgin''s approach was to start with a constraint (18+ only) and design everything downstream from that decision. The result is a ship that feels fundamentally different from mainstream cruise lines: no families means no kids'' clubs, no age-segregated programming, no assumption that passengers need constant entertainment. Adults can make their own decisions about how to spend time.
All 2,700 suites have a veranda and direct-dial connection to Guest Services. The Red Carpet tier includes priority dining, priority check-in, free beverages, and free WiFi. The Insider tier is the standard suite. The accommodations are universally solid — no class segregation on the ship.
The restaurants include The Test Kitchen (experimental), Shakeaway (wellness), Rojo (Spanish), and the Market buffet. All are included. The wine and craft beverage program is curated and thoughtfully selected. The service assumes guests are wine-literate and have opinions about what they drink.
The entertainment is curated rather than continuous. One to two major productions rather than five; the assumption is that guests chose the show they wanted to see. Live music, comedy, and dance clubs operate independently.
Scarlet Lady works for travelers who thought they wouldn''t like cruising because of families, crowds, and forced activities. Couples, empty-nesters, and solo travelers find the adults-only positioning clarifying and appealing. First-time cruisers in this demographic often become repeat Virgin cruisers.
The ship shows her age slightly — she was first-in-class and some systems have been refined on newer ships — but the brand promise and the service experience remain strong. International guests appreciate the no-formal-dress-code environment and the all-inclusive pricing model.
