Sun Princess: Princess's first next-generation ship, in the Caribbean and Mediterranean
Sun Princess took her first guests on October 14, 2024, the first of a new generation of Princess ships; Star Princess followed in 2025. Princess lists her at 4,300 guests, 1,600 crew and 177,882 tons, and she sails the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. She is built around the Piazza, a glass-walled space with views in every direction, and has a three-story main dining room, an arena-style theater and Spellbound by Magic Castle.
Who this ship suits
Sun Princess suits couples and multigenerational families who want a new, large ship with a wide choice of restaurants and a calmer feel than the most thrill-focused ships. Princess regulars who want the line's newest design will find a different layout from the older ships. Families with young children are well served by the kids' areas described below.
She is not the ship for travelers who want a small vessel or who dislike crowds at port. With 4,300 guests, getting ashore at a tender port takes time.
The ship itself
At 177,882 tons and 4,300 guests, she has about 41 tons per guest. With 1,600 crew, there are about 2.7 guests per crew member. Princess lists 21 decks, 2,157 guest cabins and a length of 1,133 feet.
The center of the ship is the Piazza, a glass-walled space where you can eat and drink with sea views in every direction. Shows run in an arena whose layout changes with each production, as well as in a conventional theater. Spellbound by Magic Castle is a magic-themed experience with a speakeasy-style bar and close-up magic.
Cabins
All suites belong to the Sanctuary Collection, which gives access to suite-only spaces including the Signature Suite Lounge. The suite range runs from Mini-Suites through Signature, Vista and Grand Suites to the two-bedroom Sky Suites, which sleep up to five. Some cabins have third and fourth berths.
Dining
The main dining room is three stories high. Specialty restaurants include Crown Grill (steak and seafood), Sabatini's Italian Trattoria, The Catch by Rudi (seafood) and The Butcher's Block by Dario. Alfredo's Pizzeria serves pizza with table service. Check which venues are included in your fare or package before you sail.
Families and kids
For a four-year-old there is Firefly Park, for children from six months to seven years, with late-night babysitting from 10pm to 1am. Tweens have the Neon Grove and teenagers have the Underground, both with video games and organized activities.
What to know before you book
