Who this ship suits

Rotterdam suits adults and couples who want a calm, mid-sized ship with live music most evenings and a good choice of restaurants. She also suits travelers who like Holland America's Dutch heritage, and multigenerational groups who want a pace grandparents will find comfortable.

She is not built for families looking for waterslides and a packed kids' program, or for travelers who want a party atmosphere late into the night.

The ship itself

Rotterdam was delivered by Fincantieri's Marghera yard in Italy in July 2021. She is the line's seventh Rotterdam: the first sailed in 1872, and Rotterdam VI entered service in 1997. Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam are her Pinnacle-class sisters.

At 99,836 tons and 2,668 guests, she has about 37 tons per guest, more than Icon of the Seas (about 33) and less than Celebrity Xcel (about 43). With 1,048 crew, there are about 2.5 guests per crew member. With every berth filled she can carry up to 3,172 guests.

Evenings center on music. The World Stage hosts production shows, and three music venues each have their own style: the Rolling Stone Lounge for rock and pop, Billboard Onboard for sing-alongs and request performances, and B.B. King's Blues Club for rhythm and blues. The Grand Dutch Café serves coffee, Dutch beers and snacks.

Cabins

Cabins run from Inside and Ocean View through Verandah cabins to Vista, Signature, Neptune and Pinnacle Suites. Neptune and Pinnacle Suite guests can use the Neptune Lounge, which has a concierge. The Pinnacle Suite is 1,290 square feet and sleeps up to four.

Dining

Specialty restaurants are the Pinnacle Grill (steak and seafood), Sel de Mer (Mediterranean seafood bistro), Tamarind (Pan-Asian), Canaletto (Italian) and Morimoto By Sea Sushi. Club Orange is a paid tier with priority seating, expanded menus and a private dining room.

Accessibility
