Celebrity Equinox (2009) is the second Solstice-class ship, arriving one year after Celebrity Solstice proved the concept and incorporating the first wave of operational adjustments the class needed. The Solstice-class defining features are present and performing: the Lawn Club real-grass upper deck, AquaClass staterooms with Blu restaurant access and Persian Garden spa perks, the Martini Bar's glass-and-ice bar rail, and the Tuscan Grille Italian steakhouse. Equinox operates Caribbean and Mediterranean itineraries.
Celebrity Equinox followed Celebrity Solstice by one year and arrived as the class's first refinement. The Solstice had proved the Lawn Club would work operationally and that AquaClass would find a market; Equinox implemented those decisions with slightly better public-space flow and minor cabin-storage improvements that passenger feedback on Solstice had flagged. The result was a ship that felt more settled than its predecessor while sharing every core design element.
The Lawn Club on Equinox runs the same half-acre of real grass as the rest of the class — with bocce, croquet, and the Lawn Club Grill casual dining venue opening into the outdoor space. Maintaining live grass on an operating cruise ship requires a continuous horticultural program, and Celebrity has sustained the commitment across all five Solstice-class ships. The space earns its reputation in practical terms: it's genuinely different from any other outdoor area on any ship in the market, and passengers who discover it early in a sailing tend to return.
AquaClass is Celebrity's wellness cabin tier: staterooms with veranda access to Blu (a lighter, spa-adjacent specialty restaurant reserved for AquaClass and suite guests) and complimentary access to the Persian Garden thermal facilities — heated tile loungers, steam rooms, thalassotherapy pool — without the per-day access fee. The value calculation is straightforward for guests who would pay for the Persian Garden anyway: the AquaClass cabin premium covers the spa access and adds the Blu dining.
Celebrity Revolution updated Equinox's interiors without changing the ship's layout, bringing the cabin finishes and some public-space aesthetics into alignment with Celebrity's current standard. The Solstice-class bones remained; the visual treatment shifted to the more contemporary palette the fleet now uses.
The guest who fits Celebrity Equinox: travelers choosing Solstice-class for the design philosophy (Lawn Club, ocean-view architecture, quieter atmosphere than Royal Caribbean) who find Equinox on the itinerary they want. AquaClass travelers making a wellness-focused sailing where the Persian Garden access and Blu dining are the booking rationale.
