Nieuw Statendam
Nieuw Statendam refines the Pinnacle-class concept with a World Stage and the Club Orange dining upgrade
Nieuw Statendam (2018) is the second Pinnacle-class ship and shares most of Koningsdam''s design language — Music Walk, America''s Test Kitchen, Grand Dutch Café — while adding the Grand World Stage (a 270-degree LED entertainment environment) and Club Orange, a premium dining tier that gives suite and Club Orange guests a private dining room with a rotating menu.
Nieuw Statendam carries 16 more guests than Koningsdam and has a nearly identical layout, which means most of the Koningsdam experience applies here — with two important additions.
The Grand World Stage replaced the Mainstage theater concept. The 270-degree LED environment wraps around the audience rather than presenting a flat proscenium stage. Productions specifically designed for the format (rather than traditional Broadway-style shows scaled to a ship theater) take advantage of the space differently. For travelers who care about onboard entertainment, this is the more interesting of the two Pinnacle ships.
Club Orange is Nieuw Statendam''s answer to the premium dining tier concept. Pay the supplement, and guests gain access to a private dining room with a daily-changing menu and a dedicated maitre d'' team. It''s positioned between the main dining room and specialty restaurants — a middle tier that appeals to guests who want something better than the standard dining room every night but don''t want to pay specialty restaurant surcharges at every meal.
Music Walk, Pinnacle Grill, Tamarind, Canaletto, and Rudi''s Sel de Mer are all present and carry the same quality standard as Koningsdam. The culinary arts program (America''s Test Kitchen demonstrations, hands-on classes) is also identical.
The guest who should choose Nieuw Statendam over Koningsdam: travelers who prioritize the entertainment experience (World Stage over standard theater) or who plan to use Club Orange. Travelers who want the same itinerary options with either ship can choose based on price and cabin availability — the experience is broadly equivalent.
