Celebrity Summit (2001) is one of the Millennium-class ships that gave Celebrity its identity in the early 2000s. The 2019 "Celebrity Revolution" refurbishment added The Retreat (suite-class experience) and updated the dining program. The ship holds seasonal residence in Bermuda, which makes it the default choice for travelers who want a Bermuda itinerary with Celebrity service.
Celebrity Summit entered service in 2001 as the second Millennium-class ship. The class introduced Celebrity''s identity marker of that era: the AquaSpa (a Thalassotherapy pool, Persian Garden thermal suite, and café), a conservatory space for reading and socializing, and Celebrity''s then-novel approach to specialty dining.
The 2019 Celebrity Revolution refurbishment was the more consequential event for Summit''s current profile. The Retreat — Celebrity''s suite-class concept — was introduced: suite guests get access to The Retreat Sundeck (aft, private deck with plunge pool), The Retreat Lounge (private dining and social space), and dedicated butler service. The retreat concept, while now a standard Celebrity premium tier, was originally rolled out on refurbished Millennium-class ships before appearing on the Edge-class vessels.
Eden — the three-deck living space unique to the Edge class, combining performance, dining, and social areas in a single volume — did not make it to Summit; the Millennium-class hull couldn''t accommodate the physical structure. The refurbishment worked within the existing space rather than transforming it.
Specialty dining includes Murano (French; the Millennium-class original), Tuscan Grille (Italian), Sushi on Five (Japanese casual), and Rooftop Garden Grill. The main dining room runs Celebrity''s standard format: open seating (Select Dining) or fixed, brand-consistent food quality.
Celebrity Summit''s Bermuda deployment is the defining feature for most guests who book it. Bermuda has pink sand beaches (Horseshoe Bay, Warwick Long Bay), a British colonial aesthetic distinct from the Caribbean, and a population of 65,000 that keeps it less chaotic than Nassau or St. Maarten. Summit typically docks in King''s Wharf (Royal Naval Dockyard), offering ferry access to Hamilton and St. George''s. For travelers specifically targeting Bermuda, the ship''s seasonal positioning makes it the natural choice.
